Hello Friends, Welcome to Theth Banarasi Food Recipe. Today, I am going to make the most famous recipe of the winter season: Chura matar recipe.
It is almost everyone’s favourite, and as soon as the season of green peas arrives, it is definitely made in everyone’s homes. It is very easy to make and also made quickly.
Today I am going to make this Chura Matar Recipe in a completely traditional way in Banarasi style. So let’s see how this delicious recipe is made.
Ingredients for Banarasi Chura Matar:
- Chura (Poha) – 1 bowl (medium thickness)
- Green Peas – 1 bowl (fresh and sweet)
- Ghee – 2 tbsp (for authentic flavor)
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
- Bay Leaf – 1 small
- Ginger – 1 tsp (finely chopped)
- Garlic – 1 tsp (finely chopped)
- Green Chillies – 2-3 (finely chopped)
- Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
- Salt – to taste
- Turmeric Powder – a pinch
- Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – ½ tsp
- Sugar – a pinch
- Fresh Cream – 1 tbsp (optional, for richness)
Optional (for garnish):
- Dry Fruits – Fried in ghee (optional for added crunch)
How to Make Traditional Chura Matar Recipe at Home
- To make Chura Matar recipe we need peas and Surat.
- Here we have taken peas and Chura, so we need the quantity of both to be equal, so we have taken one bowl of green peas and 1 bowl of this Chura i.e. Poha.
- Here we have to take this kind of whole, we neither have to make it too fine nor take it too thick, so you can measure it with any normal bowl of the kitchen, now let’s go to the next process.
- Now I have heated a pan here and we will put it in it. Here I am putting two spoons of ghee in it. I am making it, it tastes very good, so you can add that too,
- Now we will add cumin seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 small leaf, if we add cumin seeds a little
- if it is raw then we will add ginger garlic and ginger 1 tsp chaat masala 1 tsp finely chopped garlic, we will add it here and this green chilli, I have said here two to three green chillies finely chopped, you do not like it very much, but with a little it tastes very good, try making it this way, it tastes delicious,
- Now we will add this onion, I have taken 1 medium size onion and it is very finely chopped and we will add it in it and fry it, so we have to fry the onion till it becomes light golden
- The onion has been fried a little, so now we will add these green peas in it and if the green peas are absolutely fresh and sweet, then its taste increases a lot,
- the chura matar is formed by the combination of sweet Rahu, so chura matar tastes very good, now we will add this in it Keep adding salt according to your taste, add salt to it, then we will
- add turmeric powder, see I am adding a little turmeric powder, the amount of two grams, but people do not like to make it with turmeric, so you can do this, now here I will take 1 teaspoon coriander powder and
- half teaspoon garam masala powder and I am adding some sugar here, I am adding sugar grains in it, so it is not going to be sweet with sugar, but it gives a very good taste, now we will keep the peas on medium flame and we will cook it by covering it, so keep it on low flame for a minute and let the peas cook,
- till then we will fry the poha here, so here we will take a big vessel, so that we can add water all at once and we will wash it, we have to add water all at once and we have to wash it quickly
- We do not have to keep it in water for too long, so we will immediately boil it and remove its water, so I am adding it instantly and we will filter it and remove all the water and
- Now, check the matar you can check it by taking out a pea. It is cooked like this.
- When the spices are cooked well, we will add the cream here. It is not necessary to add any spices if you do not have it available.
- After this, we will add chura and mix it well. So, the way it is made in the traditional way, the whole peas are made exactly like this,
- but if you want to make it in a more correct way, then you can fry dry fruits etc. in a little ghee and then you can add it. So, chura matar are ready. Let us serve it.
